Marcello Ristorante & Pizzeria

After a long week and a long saturday morning of hard work I decided to stop for some comfort food in the form of pasta.  I always have faith that I will find a vegan option at any restaurant and I decided to give Marcello’s (1404 Commercial Dr.) a try.  As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with a friendly smile. I eat out alone a lot because often that is the only time I get the time to myself to read and write. Sometimes I encounter indifference from the host or the servers at a restaurant because, as my server friends have taught me, servers see single diners as a small bill, therefore a small tip. At Marcello’s I encountered nothing but warmth and kindness by both the host and my server. As soon as I looked at the menu I knew what I was going to order; Spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino* (Spicy sauce with olive oil, garlic, & a touch of tomato). Ya’ll know that I love spicy food, so to find a spicy vegan pasta sauce sounded like heaven to me. The meal was so good I ate the entire plate, and to top it off, once I had finished the pasta,  I asked for a piece of bread to scoop up the rest of the garlic spicy oily sauce, not a common practice in Canada but I figured, I’m in an Italian restaurant, they’ll understand. 😉
